This is for a graphic novel for my world building project, The World of Baeg Tobar [link] I've completed some promotional material and the first eight pages which we're going to be using as a prologue or teaser for the actual graphic novel.
A couple disclaimers - the title is likely to change. There are a lot of things out there that have come out recently called "Haven." So, we'll probably be changing the title. Trust me, all will be notified.
Secondly, I'm slow. It's likely that this will take me a couple years to do. I'll try to post some stuff about it as I complete it on my various websites. As of now, I have no idea when this will be finished.
My wife, Emily Hall [link] , created this with me and she's doing the writing. I'll be handling most of the art chores.
Finally - a special thanks to Ben Hunter for all his help and assistance. Not only is Ben an incredible artist, he's also one of the most dependable artists I've had the good fortune to work with. He's super nice too!
Anyway, I hope you guys like this. I've spent a lot of time on these pages and I'll be posting them all up over the next several weeks.
Beautiful, sensitive rendering. I really like the color choices in this piece. My favorite part is how the color goes from the warm yellows and tans behind the figure and then blends into the cool spectrum as it approaches the group of figures. Very natural looking, with just a little "punch" to give it some brilliance. The lite blue ribbon page marker is just the right amount of accent to add some additional interest. Good use of perspective, also.
This is going to be a wonderful project to view in its entirety. If quality means taking it slow, by all means. Personally, I would rather wait a long time for something done right (and be "wowed" by the end result), than to have a rushed project immediately and say "Gee, this could have been done some much better!"
