Long time!

Journal Entry: Thu May 8, 2008, 2:38 PM
Hey folks,

Well, it's been a really long time since my last update, both journal wise as well as art wise. I've had a whole lot going on in my life, lately. I don't even know where to begin! It's all pretty much good, though. It seems that when it rains, it pours! Everything at once! But, I'd rather have everything at once rather than nothing, so I'm not complaining.

The last few months have seen the retirement of my old truck (which isn't so bad - it's a '91 that I drove since 2000, so it has been a good ol' vehicle) and the addition of a new truck (a 2000 - the newest vehicle I've ever owned...and only 50K miles, the lowest mileage I've ever had on a vehicle).

A new girlfriend, who I have gladly been letting suck up all my spare time (and a little time I didn't have to spare too).

I also just recently joined a local gallery called The Collective, which is hanging around eight of my pieces. I was never one that was entirely into the whole fine art thing, but I think it will be a good experience and something new to add to my resume. And it's kind of exciting to see your work hanging in an actual art gallery.

I've started a new company called Outland Entertainment [link] with my buddy Matt Jacobs. Which will be a web design and IP development company. So far, we've had quite a bit of web work to keep us busy, which is good, I think. We've also got a lot of really interesting projects happening already - we're going to specialize on content worlds (though we do have a number of stand alone stories planned), the first of which will be my project Baeg Tobar.

Speaking of which, Baeg Tobar is moving along nicely! We have some extremely talented artists and writers already working on the project. We've got an ongoing webcomic planned that will probably span several years with updates three times a week. We've also got a print comic in the works (and a publisher more or less lined up), an MMO turn-based game, and just tons of content planned. Hoping for an official launch late this year. We've also almost got the writing for the RPG finished as well - now I'm going to have to find time to do the illustrations (which I'll be doing for the entire book).

I also managed to get into Spectrum this year! That has been one of my goals since I held the first Spectrum book in my hands. The piece selected was the Lich King - [link] . I'm hoping to make a habit of it, so I'm going to be working hard to develop some new artwork to get into next year's book as well.

Now...the next goal is to get some work from WotC!

As far as work goes, I just finished up ten more illustrations based on Inuit folklore and I'm waiting on the next ten. I'm also going to be coloring around 28 pages for an Inuit based comic book (as soon as the client gets me the pages). I have two covers in the pipeline (and funny enough, an unrelated Inuit project cover - which I think is pretty amusing) and it looks like I may be doing an ongoing webcomic (which I'll give more info about as we get all the final details set).

I'm also planning to be at several conventions this summer. I'll definitely be at WWChicago (with my good friends Jeff Wamester, Shannon Potratz, Daniel Gooden, and Matt Jacobs). We'll be promoting Outland Entertainment, Baeg Tobar, and ourselves, of course. I'm also planning to have a table at Gen Con Indy, which should also be a lot of fun.

So anyway, when it rains, it pours. Life seems very full right now. And I'm going to be hunting for a new place to live probably mid summer. Whew. Where am I going to find the time?

Hey, sounds like you have been very productive. Congratulations on the new lady, too!

I'll be seeing you at WW Chicago and Gen Con for sure.

Hey... Well done on the Spectrum inclusion... I love those books.

Oh and are you going to post any pics of the gallery showing?

Thanks! Well, maybe when I have a solo show. Right now, I'm just hanging in the gallery and it seems a bit premature to put up photos. But it's definitely something I'll think about!

Hey guy!
It's nice to hear you're doing well on all aspects :)

Sorry I haven't been around Baeg Tobar, it seems life has been exceptionally busy for the past year :/ I'll have to pop in more often and check in on you guys :) Maybe I'll try throwing some of my junk in there again too! I could use more of a critical setting than DA *nods*

Continue with the good fortune! I'll catch you later.
