Milestones...

Wed Nov 19, 2008, 3:23 PM
Well,

It appears that I've crossed a personal one. I believe, up until the last couple months, I have never made it successfully past five or six sequential pages in my life. And I love comics, I just, for some reason, lose interest or cannot make it work. Perhaps it was a lack of confidence or a lack of focus, I don't really know. However, as of today, I managed to do a full 22 page book.

Now, I'm not saying I'm really proud of the whole thing, and if it weren't for my buddy Chris' (Summers) colors (and thank you Chris, you saved my ass on this project), I'd probably be a whole lot less pleased with the outcome of the project.

But, I think it turned out alright and I learned quite a bit doing it, including how to letter and do some work in Illustrator, which has been long over due.

There may actually be several more books in the series and while it's going to be published in Canada, we may make a pitch to publish it in the US. Though, maybe I feel a little like my work is a touch weak, especially compared to some sequential stuff I see all you guys doing (especially you, Jeff (Wamester), I need to channel some of your talent).

Anyway, it's made me feel pretty good about my ability to do sequential work. I think the next book I do or next sequential project I take on will be stronger. I hope, anyway.

So, as soon as I get the go ahead, I'll start posting some pages. I have to see what the client will let me do.

Now, some time to work on a few other projects and a commission! No, I haven't forgotten you!

Thanks!

Jer

Commissions
I'm always happy to talk commissions. I don't have a set price for anything because each piece is unique and poses a new set of issues. What you can count on is that a piece with an extensive background or multiple figures will be more expensive. Color too. Just PM me details and we'll talk it over.

(I have been wanting to do some superhero type stuff, but it's hard to find the time between paying work to just do it for fun. So, if you are wanting something along those lines, I would be willing to consider a discount. Just PM me and we can talk.)

For Sale
Most of the artwork I've posted is for sale. Most pieces have a price listed in the description. If there is no price, shoot me a PM and we'll talk (as I may have missed putting it up or it may not be available).

Prints
Just about all of my color work is available as a print. All prints are signed and dated and run $15 per print or two for $25. That includes shipping and handling.

I know what you mean. The longest story I had completed until recently was 10 pages. I'm 13 pages into my first 22 pager and feeling pretty good.

Dude! You're too critical of yourself. I know its hard when doing comics, it makes us work so friggin hard at our weaknesses. I just try to put it out of my mind ... fake it till I make it kinda thing... LOL!

Awesome. I'm not the only one who can't seem to get past the 6-8 page block. I have plenty of short stories done and published but not full books.

Congrats! How can we southerners get our hands on a copy of your book?
